The Middlebury Fire Department will be conducting a flashover training on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 PM, in the parking lot of the former Standard Register building, 1741 Route 7 South in Middlebury. The public is welcome to observe.

The Middlebury Fire Department and Battell Hose Company held their joint annual awards banquet on December 1, 2018 at the American Legion Post 27 in Middlebury. The dinner was attended by current, former, and life members of the Middlebury Fire Department, as well as by the members of the board of directors of the Battell Hose Company, and guests.
The following awards were presented: 5 Years of Service Barb Pratt Blake Harrison 25 Years of Service Mike Mayone 30 Years of Service Ronald "Bugger" Warner 35 Years of Service Larry Volkert The Richard E. Hayes Training Award Donald Mason Chiefs' Award Blake Harrison Mike Mayone Medal of Valor Paul Garrow Pat Shaw Keegan Sullivan, Dylan Montagu, and Andrew L'Roe are the lastest member of the Middlebury Fire Department to complete the Vermont Fire Academy Firefighter 1 program. Congratulations gentlemen!
On Tuesday Jan. 16, 2018 the Middlebury Fire Department took delivery of a new ladder truck. The truck is a HME Ahrens-Fox Model HAF111L 111’ rear mounted aerial ladder on a Spectr Chassis built by HME, Inc. of Wyoming, Michigan. The truck was purchased through Lakes Region Fire Apparatus of Tamworth, NH, Glenn Davis salesman.
The truck has a 6 person custom cab with a stainless steel body, powered by a Cummins ISX-15 600hp motor and a Allison 4000EVS automatic transmission. The frame rails, torque box and outriggers have been galvanized to better protect against the winter elements. The truck has a full LED lighting package including driving, warning and scene lights. The truck is equipped with an Onan 8000w hydraulic generator and also a Ramsay 9000# winch, receiver mountable on all 4 sides of the truck. The new truck utilizes smart aerial technology with features like auto stor and anti-collision. The aerial also has a pre-piped waterway with a remote controlled Akron automatic nozzle and has tip creeper controls to allow a firefighter at the top of the ladder to make adjustments to the ladder positioning. The truck has been equipped with a compliment of power and hand tools to make it a very useful apparatus on a fire scene. The committee that designed the truck were Asst. Chief Myron Selleck, Captain Jeff Carpenter, Captain Kirk Gallipo and Captain Scott Selleck. The dinner was attended by current, former, and life members of the Middlebury Fire Department, as well as by the members of the board of directors of the Battell Hose Company, and guests.
Life and current members, along with members of the BHC board, received challenge coins. Mark Bouvier, retired chief of the Bristol Fire Department and Tom Estey, chief of the Starksboro Fire Department were awarded honorary membership in the department.
