At 7:15 am this morning the MFD responded to a report of a confirmed building fire at 25 Bakery Lane. Upon arrival C-2 established command and reported smoke showing from the A side. Engine 3 arrived shortly after and the interior crew led by Captain Pat Shaw made a quick advancement and knock down of the fire. C-3 arrived on scene and established operations. Engine 2 arrived and ran large diameter hose to Engine 3. Utility 1 and 2 crews worked fast to minimize the smoke and water damage. Ladder 1 accessed the roof to confirm that the fire had not spread. A big thanks to the following fire departments for there quick response: Cornwall, Weybridge, New Haven, and Vergennes. Thanks to everyone's hard work, Mr. Up's will open at 5pm tonight for dinner.
On July 3, 2012 at 1:09 am, the Middlebury Fire Department responded to Middlebury College for a report of a Sprinkler going off in a dorm room. Upon arrival, the Engine 3 crew found a sprinkler tripped due to a cloths hanger hooked to a sprinkler head. This minor mistake cause a lot of water damage to the first and second floor of Stewart hall. This is a reminder to all of us that sprinklers are for life safety and fire suppression, and for no other reason.
